I grew up kaddy corner from this Coal Temple in Briceville Tenn. I can remember the sounds of the old beast chugging out the coal and the gray black coal dust that stirred in the air . When the coal trucks would make the many ,many ,trips up and down the mountain carrying the coal to these Temples it Caused little mounds of coal dust to gather on the sides of the gravel road at the end of our field leading off the mountain. I would pick it up and it would fall thru my hands like blackish gray baby powder , but this wasn’t baby powder it was coal dust .
Any word on coal mining and loading in this area. I might have been to this tipple in 2010 or so. Mining was going on, but the RR was not being used. Briceville still had the grade school to my recollection.
