A chopped-nosed geep and a pair of Fs make up a coal drag at the small yard at
Thomas, WV before departing for Elkins. The Chessie hoppers are a sign of things to come,

This yard at Thomas was a collection spot for several local mines in the area. This
whole division was torn up from Romney to Elkins after Chessie takover, Jul 1972 -Donald

Variety of power including WM Fs, GP40s, and what looks like an N&W GP35 idles
in the terminal at Bowest yard near Connellsville, PA. This was the end of the WM
mainline, but they exercised trackage rights over the B&O from here to mines west of

A lone SD35 hauls empties up the Josephine Branch near Chiefton, WV. This was one
of 3 WM branches worked out of Chiefton that could only be reached via trackage rights
