Loading the "Green Train" at Clover,
KY -Stuart Thayer Photo
The O&W
The Oneida & Western was not a true railroad in the
traditional sense. The O&W owned locomotives, cars, and cabs; but operated over
L&N (later Seaboard and CSX) lines in Kentucky and Tennessee using L&N
crews. It was owned by the Shamrock Coal Company, and it's mint green equipment
earned the unit train the nickname "Green Train."
